W Sardinia Poltu Quatu, brand new luxury hotel by Marriott in Northern Sardinia. W Sardinia just opened its doors last summer: fresh, elegant, modern and welcoming as it can be.

I’ve just happened to stay at W Sardinia for luxury travel conference TRUE Sardinia, and I can’t imagine better host: every detail was taken care of, and staff was absolutely fantastic – so friendly, creative, accommodating and professional.. Normally I would be a bit uncertain to recommend my clients the property which is that new it didn’t even operate for full season yet. But W Sardinia passed the exam with high scores.

Let us start from the location. W Sardinia is the newest addition to modern and chic Poltu Quatu resort village nestled on Sardinia’s jet-set North-East, not far from the iconic Porto Cervo.
Poltu Quatu offers all the glamour of your typical Costa Smeralda but on smaller, intimate scale, with fresh, modern, youthful vibe to enjoy. Chic marina, few bars and restaurants, some shopping, elegant private residences, beach club just short ride away, sports and wellness, and the core of it – brand new W Hotel which naturally feels like part of the village.

I love recent transition of Marriott W brand from quirky-funky to modern chic luxury. It really works well. Just a bit more taste and a bit less of queerness, and bingo! Love is in the air! Truly appreciate that Marriott accepted that young generation is smart and sophisticated as it is.
Public spaces of W Sardinia are airy, light, and with lots of visual interest. Beautiful pieces of art, splashes of fresh colour and relaxing homey atmosphere. I would say it is very Costa Smeralda – no fuss, no stuffiness, traditional lines and shades, but in updated to our days playful version. Feels very comfortable, and smiley faces of staff add to the feeling.

I loved my suite, very spacious, with abundance of outdoor, modern but not minimalistic, colours mimicking the shades of the sea and sky. The art and traditional elements are very well blended with easy contemporary furniture, all of great quality and design, and very comfortable too. I would steal few pieces for my home!

Great bathroom with fab amenities.

The territory of W Sardinia is not huge, but very well organized, and having chic Poltu Quatu village all around adds lots of facilities. Hotel is seaside but not exactly beachside, transportation to beach club is provided, and it is very close. I loved that large-scale swimming pool is heated, great to have it warm at the end of the season when nights become cooler.
Traditional architecture – white-washed walls, tiled roofs, soft lines also add to the charm of place blending with entire village.

If being exactly on the beach is not crucial for you (easy access to the beach provided), I’m confident to recommend W Sardinia Poltu Quatu as very well thought and curated property.
Just a little detail: my terrace had a glance of the road on the distance, just a glance, the most of the view was to charming hotel gardens and swimming pool. Yet I expect there could be distant noice from the cars if… Think of that: the fountain under my terrace produced a soothing sound of freely running water which totally covered any possible bothering sound from the road, day or night. Smart, is not it?
