Venice. Londra Palace Hotel. Relais & Chateaux.

I’ve been to Londra Palace before, and I was so happy to be its guest ones again. The first feeling/thought when you step in: bomboniera. Jewel-box. Exquisite in every detail, refined, precious, so venetian in its light butterfly-touch version. Somehow strangely French. And simply delightful.

The history of this property counts from 1853. That time it was called Hotel d’Angleterre & Pension and hosting travellers arriving by newly built mainland railway.

It was hosting such intellectual celebrities as Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Jules Verne, Italian poet and novelist Gabriele D’Annunzio. Since then, property went through few major restorations. Last one was in 2024: a fresh new design scheme by Venice-based architects Ruberti & Cutillo, working closely with local artisanal firms.

Here is the General Manager Alain Bullo in his fairy doll house kingdom, on top of everything, refining every moment to perfection. I can’t really count how many years we know each other. Many. Who cares that we are not getting younger – long term friendship is a core of luxury travel business and your guarantee of perfect experience.

Alan became GM in 2011. Hotel is literally part of his family history: Alain’s father Aldo worked there for 56 years, for most of that time as Head Concierge. He met Alain’s French mother when she was a guest at the hotel, it was love at first sight and another Venetian magic story.

My room was simply perfect (thanks a million, Alan!), and I’m sorry to be reiterative, but jewel-box it was. Would you have better description for this piece of art of the room?

And truly, this is all about details. The bed which is heavenly comfortable, the shower which works perfectly well, the bathroom accessories which are delight to see and to use, the decoration ideas which are worthy to steal for your own home.

And oh… this is one of very few centrally located hotels in Venice which offers rooms with balconies. So many clients of mine requested room with balcony or terrace, but Venice is really short of it. Londra Palace has this option, and here is your balcony view (photos are taken from my room). Venice in its best.

I should say that Londra Palace is your typical Relais & Chateaux (you might aware of the R&C standards) in one of the best possible Venetian locations: personal, warm, service-oriented, home away from home (well, I wish my home was that beautifully appointed).
