Mayakoba is a special place. One of those which were created to be unique, different, sustainable, and luxurious for those who understand and appreciate the nature. Don’t take me wrong, but Mayakoba beach is not the best in Riviera Maya. It is swimmable, but not ideal for someone who’s been to many amazing beaches. And you need to keep in mind that not all the suites and villas are beachfront – the entry accommodation category is a lagoon.
Lagoon is an essence of Mayakoba. Lagoon is man-made, but so nature-friendly, and happily inhabited by local fauna – if you are nature lover, you will be in haven here. Turtles, small crocodiles (don’t worry – they are under control, and when they grow over 120 cm, they are gently removed to another habitat), spider monkeys, racoons, coati, birds of all possible kinds – they all feel at home here. If you are not the one who would be happy to have racoon at your deck to share room service, it might be not exactly your place.
Accommodation is luxurious and very spacious. For beach lovers (as myself) there are beach suites with direct access to the beach and steps from swimming pool. I was staying in one of those, and I enjoyed my deep in the sea before breakfast.
Truly loved my splash pool, outdoor shower, jacuzzi, my feet in warm sand, and racoon coming to the patio to see if I’m to share some fruit from welcome amenity (well, I’m not stranger to those guys as I live in Greater Toronto next to the park).
The food and beverage outlets are fabulous. The same as service – so friendly and positive.
