Fairmont Mayakoba, your Riviera Maya dream

Fairmont Mayakoba is a significant part of gated upscale Mayakoba community in Riviera Maya. Mayakoba includes few luxury resorts, private residences, mangrove forest, lagoons, beaches, golf course… anything you could dream of for your perfect Mexican vacation.

The uniqueness of Mayakoba is a preserved wild life of jangle, mangrove and lagoons with abundance of authentic flora and fauna in its natural habitat. No doubts, for lovers of nature this is a paradise. I really like this modern sustainable approach which, luckily, became trendy in Mexico last decade.

Mayakoba lagoon is a home for fish, turtles and crocodiles, but don’t you worry, there is nothing dangerous around. All local crocodiles are counted, controlled, very well fed, and they would be moved outside of Mayakoba when they grow bigger than 1 metre. Yet, is it not unique to have possibility to watch crocodiles in their home?

There is also big variety of birds, big and small, and iguanas, and sea turtles, spider monkeys, coatis, deers…

I wish I had my zoom lens with me, and more time in my hands – wildlife photography is not the type of photography to be done on the go unless you are super lucky to get in the right place at the right moment. Which is rare.

Well, iguanas don’t mind to pose for nice picture – they are never much in rush, apparently. This beautiful creature doesn’t need any make up to star at Avatar, does it?

I was staying at Fairmont Mayakoba as a part of luxury travel TFest conference, and big thank you goes to my Fairmont partners for Beachfront Suite I had. For beach lover as myself, that was above perfect.

When your time is limited (well, luxury travel conference is enjoyable but also intense), having your comfortable bedding literally two steps from the ocean is a gift. By the way, Fairmont Mayakoba has, in my opinion, way better beach than neighbouring Rosewood and Banyan Tree Mayakoba.

Yet I also gave good use to my private splash pool. I would say it was quite big for splash pool, and making few laps at the morning was feeling quite luxurious.

The suite itself may use a bit of face lift, but I have no complains at all. It is spacious inside and outside, with two bathrooms (always good to have even you are just a couple), outdoor shower, and heavenly comfortable Fairmont bed. From my experience, Fairmont beds are the best.
