Riad Yamina, authentic luxury accommodation in Marrakech with unbeatable Italian taste, right in the middle of Medina where real life of the vibrant city awaits to be explored and enjoyed.
First time I visited Riad Yamina years ago for intimate dinner arranged by one of my favourite Italian suppliers during PURE luxury travel show hold in Marrakech every September. It was lovely, authentic, and full of character, peaceful oasis in the middle of Medina maze, charming as it can be but not exactly luxurious at that time.
At some point property came to the market, and Filippo Curinga, the owner of IDI Travel (Italian Dream Inc.) who adored it for a while, bought it and made it… Italian dream in Marrakech. Well, Italian architects involved.

Next time I came in was even before it was reopened for the public. Literally, I was the first guest to stay at reborn Riad Yamina, and my hosts were an Italian architect hired by Filippo, Filippo’s sister, and oh…. Moha! Moha is a Riad Yamina’s core, soul, and someone who makes you at home so naturally. Literally.

I arrived to Riad Yamina after quite adventurous journey to the South of Morocco. When I say adventurous, I really mean something out of my comfort zone… Well, tons of fun and something to cherish as one of the most spectacular memories ever, yet arrival to Marrakech after ten hours on the road over Atlas mountains in local “taxi”, run through crazy Saturday Medina maze in the dusk (trying not to loose Moha running ahead of me with my suitcase through the smelly, loud, colourful and absolutely crazy crowd of the square and then the web of tiny streets)… I was truly exhausted when I dropped through the heavy doors to be greeted by Italians and in Italian: glass of wine, darling Julia??? You arrived home, all is good!
That is exactly the feeling when you arrive to Riad Yamina: all is good. Tutto bene. Sei a casa. Un bicchiere di vino???

There are quite many riad style accommodation options in Marrakech. Yet Riad Yamina, authentic luxury accommodation in Marrakech with unbeatable Italian taste, is very special by many reasons. I do understand Filippo who fall in love with this place even before his Italian architects and designers polished the details and made the gem shine. And I should say Filippo and his people were very gentle keeping original charm and saving the loveliness which place always had. It is still very Moroccan not only by style but also by feeling, yet it is unmistakably Italian-touched and influenced, with good doze of boho style, both in interior design and way of living.

I had few happy returns to Riad Yamina, authentic luxury accommodation in Marrakech with unbeatable Italian taste, and I was happy to see how it develops. Two neighbouring riads (riad is the name for traditional Moroccan home) were purchased and adjusted to original place, so it now has more rooms (demand was high, and extension was much welcomed). Yet each room and public space has a character, individuality, and only authentic Moroccan materials are used – well, Morocco has so much to offer – colourful ceramic, artistic woodwork, filigree wrought iron, wicker, hand made fabrics and carpets – after quite many visits to Morocco my home looks quite Moroccan, hard to resist.

Those details used at Riad Yamina are refine, and one can feel it. Italians do have refine taste. As the result, staying at Riad Yamina you enjoy the best of two worlds without any little discrepancy. This is Marrakech as it is: best of Arabic culture with debonaire infusion of European perspective.
I will be happy to suggest much more flamboyant and luxurious options to stay in Marrakech, but if you like discovering hidden gems when you travel, Riad Yamina, authentic luxury accommodation in Marrakech with unbeatable Italian taste, can be your happy place. Well, also rates are rather affordable.
