I was looking ahead to see Noto, and I was not disappointed. Small town indeed, but so picturesque that you can’t stop taking one picture after another, and each angle is an authentic baroque beauty soaked in Southern sun to the honey-golden quality. And those balconies! With my obsession to architectural details, I was like OMD! look at this cherubic face! Look at this perfect curve! Look at this colour and shape! Well, I was by myself there, so I was mostly speaking with my camera, and I appreciate camera would understand my excitement. It mostly does. Literally, one of the most remarkable aesthetic experiences I experienced. And they are many.
I would say… It is very clear and sharp beauty, nothing in between of blue sky and perfectly baroque architecture. No nonsense. The way the town lives is in total accord – no fuss, slow pass, time to digest the moment.
Well, the place I recommend to stay is quite different in ambience from Noto itself… yet in total harmony: Il San Corrado di Noto. Strangely, this very modern slick resort in peaceful countryside just minutes drive from baroque beauty makes a perfectly perfect contrast, so refreshing and so in balance with Noto itself. The main point is quality. Quality is always in equilirbrio with quality, and when you plunge in refreshing swimming pool in front of your elegant room of Il San Corrado, the golden dust of heritage centuries will merge naturally with modern blues, I promise.
