I met Domenico Scordari and his wife Marinella, the owners of Naturalis, long before I finally made my way to Salento and experienced the resort myself. From the first conversation I knew I want to come and see: been in luxury travel business for a while, I learned that every unique hotel has a passionate hotelier behind. Just beautiful structure and money invested in it is not enough: hotel needs to be loved, and it definitely is in case of Domenico and Marinella.
Well, Naturalis is way more than just luxury accommodation in Southern Puglia. It is Southern Puglia itself: authentic yet innovative, somehow modern in approach, but organically grown from the land on which it was built, natural in sustainable as it can be.
Naturalis is a large country estate which grows organic production for hotels’ table and its own organic cosmetic line. There is a big plantation of aloe vera, olives, all possible herbs, pomegranates, and everything is grown the most responsible way possible, with deep understanding and big respect to nature.
Few years back, olive groves of Southern Puglia suffered from disease which killed many priceless old olive trees, and it was fascinating to learn how people in Naturalis cure such trees and get them back to life. It is very slow and complicated process, but it works!
